Pulmonary Consultation & Care
At TriCity Lung & Sleep, our goal is to help patients breathe easier and live better through accurate diagnosis, advanced testing, and compassionate follow-up care. Based in Bay City, Michigan, our practice serves the Great Lakes Bay region under the leadership of Dr. Saad S. Ahmad, MD, who is board certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.
A pulmonary consultation is the first step in understanding your lung health. During this visit, our team reviews your medical history, medications, and lifestyle factors while performing a thorough respiratory assessment. This information helps us identify possible causes of shortness of breath, chronic cough, or other symptoms—and develop a personalized plan for testing and treatment.
Conditions We Evaluate and Manage
- Asthma and reactive airway disease
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and emphysema
- Pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung disease
- Pulmonary hypertension and vascular lung disorders
- Chronic cough and unexplained shortness of breath
- Post-COVID respiratory complications
- Sleep-related breathing disorders
Our Diagnostic Approach
We use advanced diagnostic tools to gain a complete picture of your lung function. In our Bay City office, we perform Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) to measure how well air moves in and out of your lungs, and the Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) to evaluate your endurance, oxygen levels, and heart performance during exertion. When appropriate, we also coordinate chest imaging and laboratory testing to provide a comprehensive view of your respiratory health.
All testing is performed under physician supervision and interpreted in accordance with American Thoracic Society (ATS) standards. We also follow CDC respiratory health guidance for prevention, vaccination, and infection control.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your first visit begins with a complete review of your medical and exposure history, medications, and any prior imaging or test results. Dr. Ahmad will discuss your symptoms, perform a focused physical exam, and recommend appropriate next steps—such as testing, medication adjustments, or specialist referral. Our staff verifies insurance coverage, coordinates authorizations, and assists with follow-up scheduling.
For patients with chronic lung disease, we emphasize ongoing care and education. This includes inhaler technique training, oxygen therapy management, and personalized recommendations for vaccination and lung protection strategies.
